How your name « King Prof » and « I Knowledge » came at you?
The name « King Prof »… They used to call me prof since I am a youth just because of my activity… on how i go about doing thing. Then when i started to Djing they put the king to it. Then i came to the understanding that a good name is better then pocket money… I am not saying anything wrong with King Prof, but over the years i gained a lot of knowledge, by listening all type of music and read a lot of book. Then i put what i have learnt in the music…Then one day Sonny Spoon, which is I Wayne’s manager, told me he thinks the name « Knowledge » would fit me…
Do you have a special and main message within your music ? If yes what it is about?
Yes i think singing music in a whole is a way of sending message, wether it is good or bad. So am just here singing, sending my message promoting oneness, cause i think the balance of love equal oneness.
What are your current projects? What coming next?
My current project is a new thing called « Feel the pain » on the EES label… Next project is a song name « What about mine ».
Why you started doing music?
Because i enjoy singing and it is the best way to tell how I feel inside
Since these times how your meditations go ?
I meditate mostly at night and write about daily activity as life goes by…
Clinton Gayle, better known as King PROF before changing his stage name to I-KNOWLEDGE was born and raised in Old Breaton Portmore a community in the Parish of St. Catherine. He began his musical journey at the age of 10 years old along with his brother Sheldon. I-Knowledge first major performance was at stage show in Portmore and featured top artists such as Lady Saw and Frisco Kid.I- Knowledge was billed as an opening act, and also his first time on centre stage it was truly a frightening experience yet a memorable one, Somehow that experience gave him the added determination and motivation to perfect his craft. His hard work paid off as he went on to become one of the most sought after young artist out of Portmore. He received rave reviews after winning the Red Stripe Beer Super Star competition in 2003. He then went on to entertain the unpredictable crowd at Sting in 1997 and 2003. His performance at Reggae Sumfest in 2004 was hailed as the most exciting performance since Sizzla and Richie Spice, by the international press who covered the event. He continued in that trend giving outstanding performances at vision sound record Jamaica and Guyana album release Concerts in 2005. In this era when young lions of reggae reign supreme, I-knowledge ability to deliver true to life experiences wrapped in cutting edge riddims makes him a force to be reckoned with. A gifted social commentator who addresses issues relevant to every Jamaican and Caribbean and world nations this cultural artist stand out mainly because of his in-depth understanding of world economic, culture, religious and social, political issues.
